Hello Readers,
I’m thrilled to share a deeply personal project with you: my book of poetry, Phoenix Rising. This collection is more than just a book; it is the raw, unflinching account of my journey through trauma and the conscious choice to heal. It’s the story of how I transitioned from being a survivor defined by pain to a woman anchored by happiness and peace.
For years, the pain I carried, often known as the Mother Wound, was bottled up, turning to corrosive rage and frustration. Phoenix Rising was my act of radical honesty. I learned that I’d rather be genuine and honest about how I am feeling than to hide it and bottle it up, because bottling it up is simply not healthy.
The path to peace was never disguised; it was right in my face. The abandonment and hurt I experienced became a strange kind of gift, forcing me onto a path of self-discovery and recovery. I found that I could still love someone and be angry at them simultaneously. This confusion taught me the profound lesson of being true and loyal to myself first.
My greatest goal is to encourage others. Silence on these subjects is dangerous to survivors. My hope is that by being blunt, raw, and honest, I can encourage others to release their pain and seek their truth, recovering their happiness and their lives through writing.
As I wrote, I realized that I’ve seen so much good come from bad moments or bad times. In this journey through the good, the bad, and the ugly, I gained the gift of compassion. While being rightfully angry at being wronged.
My recovery was not a silent, lonely act. I often wondered, “Is God sick of me?” but I knew the answer was no. The truth is, my faith carried me through the abandonment and pain. I still refuse to judge others, it is God’s and God’s alone. My path led me to improve where the generation before me could not, ultimately allowing my son to be born into a home free from the generational curses I chose to break.
Phoenix Rising is the sound of those chains breaking. It is the realization that the one that survives is the ultimate winner. If you are ready to acknowledge your pain, seek your truth, and begin your own path to rising, I hope this book finds you.
The Phoenix’s Creed: A Question of Loyalty and Truth
Where does loyalty end and self-preservation begin?
When you carry scars etched by those you were meant to trust, the question shifts from what happened to why did it have to be this way?
We ask of the aggressors: Why must they draw first blood?
We ask of ourselves: Who am I to judge?
The answers are found in the ashes. The truth is this: I am a sinner, I refuse to judge, it is not my place, nor is it theirs; it is God’s and God’s alone. This was the constant piece of comfort I gave myself: If you think you are alone or the only one who knows the truth, God knows the truth too.
When you learn you can still love someone and be angry at them, it means you have finally learned to be loyal and true to you. That is the fire that burns away the shame. That is the Phoenix rising.
